About
I mainly draw my designs freehand in pencil and/or Sharpie and then paint with acrylics. I discovered the beauty of acrylics about 4 years ago and have been painting ever since. I’m inspired by bright colors, the natural world, vibrant street art, and patterns, textiles, architecture and designs from ethnic and Asian art. My artwork is abstract and colorful and adds a brightness to everyday life that aims to contrast with the darkness that sometimes surrounds us.
Across cultures, we’re all connected at a basic level and I’m interested in exploring how our patterns and symbols connect us in a way that taps into something deep and familiar. In my latest series of paintings, I’ve incorporated Japanese family crest (kamon) designs, Japanese symbols, flowers, geometric patterns, and Tibetan-inspired mandalas into my designs.
So far, I’ve exhibited at Artomatic 2012, RAW en Masse (Aug. 2013), EatsPlace (Nov.-Dec. 2014) and most recently at Artomatic 2015.
I’m looking for opportunities to exhibit my work in 2016, so email me if you’re interested in commissioning a painting or if you have exhibition space.
